| I believe that state budget expenditures should closely mirror the rate of inflation and population growth. As the population of the state increases, more money needs to be expended for necessary government services like courts, law enforcement, roads, and education. Also, these expenses should keep in line with inflation. I believe that absent an emergency, there is no need for the growth of expenditures to greatly exceed population or inflation growth. | |||
| I support the Fair Tax. When you take a look at some of the states who have done away with the income tax and significantly lowered the corporate tax and watched their state revenue jump off the charts in a matter of 2-3 years, it's very exciting! We must be a business friendly state in order to turn our economy back around and bring in more business and jobs. | |||
| First, we must eliminate wasteful spending, stop government growth and reduce the burdens on the taxpayer so that we can grow our businesses and in turn create more State revenue. When the State is facing revenue shortfalls legislatures should not approach the matter with a "should we tax them from the left or should we tax them from the right?" mentality. Our State is only as successful in generating revenue as the individual taxpayer is. If the taxpayer is weighed down by burdensome taxes and heavy regulations we stifle prosperity across the board. | |||

| The most important issues facing the Kansas legislature are: 1. Government growth and unnecessary/wasteful government spending. 2. Over-taxation. --My district, Sumner and Harper Counties, has one of the highest property taxes in Kansas. This is killing small business and hurting families. 3. Joblessness made worse by state-imposed burdens on business 4. Failure of our education system to responsibly spend money for the benefit of students. 5. Establishing a realistic energy policy that supports the most efficient methods of producing energy to provide energy to Kansans at the lowest cost. |
